  2. Businessman and community leader Dave Hunt announces campaign for Delegate

Hunt promises to be a “strong voice” for Northern Virginia

McLean – Today, local community leader and successful businessman Dave Hunt announced his candidacy for Delegate in District 34, promising to work across party lines to solve Northern Virginia’s transportation crisis. Hunt is running for the seat vacated by Delegate Vince Callahan’s retirement.

“I am running so that this district will have strong voice in Richmond on issues that affect all Northern Virginians. I will focus on transportation, education, and the effective management of growth and development; as I did during my 2003 campaign for State Senate” Hunt said.

Dave Hunt is a resident of McLean, a former long time resident of Great Falls, and the CEO of Alexandria based Landon IP, Inc, a patent research and consulting firm. Hunt purchased the company with $5,000 in savings in 1998. At that time, the company had eight employees. Currently, Landon IP employs 110 people in Alexandria and Charlottesville, Virginia. Landon IP has customers in 39 states and 44 countries. From 2001 to 2003, Hunt served as legislative assistant for appropriations to Delegate Callahan, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.

Hunt praised Delegate Callahan’s leadership, saying “Vince Callahan is a great friend and a wonderful public servant. I have had the honor of working for Vince and seeing first hand his effectiveness as a legislator. Some of the most important legislation in Virginia was due to Vince’s legislative skill and his deep concern for the community.”

Hunt has received endorsements from a number of prominent public servants, including Congressman Frank Wolf, Congressman Tom Davis, Delegate Callahan, Speaker of the House of Delegates William Howell, Delegate Tom Rust, Delegate Dave Albo, Supervisor Joan DuBois, Former Supervisor Stu Mendelsohn, Herndon Mayor Steve DeBenedittis, and Fairfax County Republican Committee Chairman Eric Lundberg.

Delegate Callahan said, “I have known Dave Hunt for many years. Dave is a community leader, a talented businessman, and was outstanding as my legislative assistant for appropriations. He is superbly qualified to serve in the Virginia General Assembly. He is a problem solver. With his experience in Richmond, Dave Hunt will be able to hit the ground running with no learning curve.”

Congressman Wolf said, “Dave Hunt is a man of integrity and a gifted business leader. He cares deeply about Northern Virginia and he will make a fine Delegate in the General Assembly.”

Congressman Davis said, “I whole-heartedly support Dave Hunt for Delegate. He is an excellent candidate and long time community activist with good ideas to address our transportation crisis. He is creative, pragmatic, and knowledgeable about the issues that face Northern Virginia.”

Delegate Albo of Springfield said, “I have known Dave Hunt for a decade. He is a dedicated community servant and a proven problem solver. It would be a pleasure to work with him in the Virginia General Assembly. He is exactly what Northern Virginia needs. As co-author of the 2007 Northern Virginia Transportation Bill, I know that Dave Hunt will fight to keep our Northern Virginia money in Northern Virginia to solve Northern Virginia problems.”

Delegate Rust of Herndon, who co-authored the 2007 Transportation Bill, said “Dave Hunt has been a leader who knows the General Assembly. He has the experience and the ability to get things done.”

Dave Hunt will kick off his campaign at Delegate Callahan’s home in McLean.

  3. Faisal Gill refused to invite Jay O’Brien to his “Thank You” picnic because Jay has not telephoned him to congratulate him on his “victory”.

  4. I am THRILLED to see a 1st step against illegal immigration but we MUST be resolved.

Look for detractors to purposely BOYCOTT PWC businesses. Your Popeye’s example is a good one.

We the People MUST try to patronize our PWC business more than before, otherwise the almight dollar will force PWC to cancel this law, and we’ve lost forever!

  5. In the past Dave Hunt was a RINO. He is somewhat anti-gun so there you have it.

  6. I’m afraid that conservatives are in danger of losing their ethical bearings when supporting candidates such as Tim Hugo, incumbant member of the House of Delegates from the 40th district (Fairfax County). It should take more than a loud, anti-tax, anti-regulation, anti-abortion, etc. stance to warrant conservative support. What about integrity? Hugo’s past professional associations with the likes of congressman Bud Shuster (reprimanded by the House Ethics Committee), Ann Eppard (pleaded guilty to receiving illegal payments), and Bob Livingston (resigned from Congress in a personal scandal) raise serious questions about his integrity. A little self-examination is needed amongst conservatives.
