Romney Calls Obama A Liar; WashPo Agrees

Mitt Romney’s latest ad calls out President Obama and his team as a bunch of liars.  The Washington Post has now backed that assertion up, giving Obama’s latest ad “4 Pinnochios.”

So what does Team Obama do next?  They lie some more, this time accusing Romney of being a liar and committing a felony.  Except the proof doesn’t bear that out at all.  Obama and his cronies accused Romney of continuing to run Bain Capital right through 2002 instead of 1999 when Romney stepped away from the company.  (That would have been quite the trick if Romney could have run Bain AND rescued the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics all at the same time while also preparing to run for Governor of Massachusetts.)

Once again, the WashPo steps in to actually defend Romney and definitively proves that Romney left Bain in Feb. 1999.

Why does it matter when Mitt Romney left Bain Capital?

Millions of dollars of attack ads by the Obama campaign are hanging in the balance. If Romney left Bain in February 1999, when he departed to run the Olympics, then a number of business deals that went sour (such as KB Toys) can’t be counted as part of Romney’s tenure.
