Multiple sources are reporting that J.J. Abrams, the man behind the recent revival of Star Trek on the big screen and the last two Mission: Impossible films as well as TV shows including Fringe, Revolution, Lost, and Alias, has been tapped to direct Star Wars Episode VII due out in 2015. I’d say this is good news. Should be interesting if Abrams brings some of the actors he has worked with in the past over to Star Wars as he has been prone to do with many of his other projects. If nothing else, this guy knows how to cast actors, especially in ensemble dramas.
My vote for the two leads is Evangeline Lilly (Kate on “Lost”) to play Han and Leia’s daughter Jaina Solo, and Joshua Jackson (Peter on “Fringe”) to play Luke’s son Ben Skywalker. Would love to see John Noble (Dr. Walter Bishop on “Fringe”), Terry O’Quinn (Locke on “Lost”), Michael Emerson (Ben Linus on “Lost”), Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond on “Lost” / Simon Foster on “Fringe”) and Lance Reddick (Broyles on “Fringe” / Matthew Abaddon on “Lost”) all show up in some capacity.
