#hashtag diplomacy may be a new low in American foreign policy (and that includes the Jimmy Carter years.)

Witness this tweet from former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton:

Hillary Clinton @HillaryClinton

Access to education is a basic right & an unconscionable reason to target innocent girls. We must stand up to terrorism. #BringBackOurGirls

12:05 PM – 4 May 2014

And this photo from women senators:

Maybe if our State Department under Sec. Clinton had not repeatedly fought tooth and nail against labeling Boko Haram as a terrorist group a few years ago we would be spared such hashtags and photos of Democratic women holding signs of support today.

Then again, with our State Department full of former 1960s hippies they may have simply confused Boko Haram with ’60s rock group Procol Harem.

Only now are we beginning to hear from the mainstream media that there is a significant religious component to all this. The girls were kidnapped because they were attending a Christian school. Their kidnappers are Islamic extremists. Sec. Clinton’s tweet neglects to mention those important facts and instead simply focuses on that the girls were being educated.

Is it any wonder that even those supporting Hillary Clinton for president can’t name a single accomplishment of hers as Secretary of State (and one person even says “Benghazi.”)
